Top 5 Strikers in the World!

Here it is everyone! The final Top 5 list! For this edition, I will be sharing my opinion for the top 5 strikers in the world right now. This list will not be easy, and I hope that it sparks some conversation and debate! Let me know what you think and let’s get started, here are my top 5 strikers in the world.

#5- Robert Lewandowski, FC Bayern

Kicking off my list at number five, is Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. The man is a goal poacher and makes scoring look easy. There is a reason that he is one of the most popular strikers on the planet. He is most well-known for scoring 5 goals in 9 minutes as a substitute. Acrobatic in the air and clinical in front of goal, Lewandowski has been linked with clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea in the past but has settled in at Bayern. At 30 years of age, “Lewa” still has multiple seasons left in the tank and I think he will continue to be a dominant force.

#4- Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

When you play the same position and are from the same country as one of the greatest players of all time, you are going to be overshadowed. For Sergio Aguero, that is exactly what happens to him. As a striker from Argentina, Aguero is caught in the shadow of Lionel Messi. That doesn’t change the fact that Aguero has been and is one of the best strikers in the world. He has 11 hat tricks in the Premier League, tying him with Alan Shearer for the most all time. His pace, strength, and skill make him a constant threat for opposing defenses. It’s a shame Aguero may never get the recognition he deserves, I rate him as a fantastic player and great striker.

#3- Harry Kane, Tottenham

At 25 years old, Harry Kane is far and away the youngest player on this list. He is the pride of England and has broken multiple records at such a young age. Kane has already scored 8 hat tricks in the Premier League and has 122 goals in 172 appearances for Tottenham. This past summer the Englishman bagged six goals for his country and helped them advance to the semi-finals. As the youngest member of this group I fully expect Kane to push up this list and cement himself as potentially one of the best strikers the game has seen.

#2- Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus

It wouldn’t be a Top 5 list without controversy right? Cristiano Ronaldo is a world class player. He is physically and technically gifted beyond what most people can dream. As an individual he is one of the best players of all time. He can score with his left foot, right foot, head and has even trapped passes with his back! I believe he is one of the greatest of all time and the game will miss him when he decides to hang up his boots. However, I don’t see him as number 1, which may rub people the wrong way. With that being said there is no doubt he is absolutely fantastic and is without a doubt one of the best ever.

#1- Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona

Taking the crown at number 1 is the player I believe to be the greatest of all time. Lionel Messi dribbles the ball better than most people walk. He scores goals at an incredible rate. In 794 total games Messi has an eye-watering 646 goals. Ronaldo has 678 goals but has reached that tally in 946 games, making Messi’s numbers even more impressive. One of the best things about Messi is that he makes those around him better. He has 266 to his name, more than Ronaldo even though he has played less games. His speed, skill, and precision are almost other worldly. All you have to do is type his name into YouTube and watch as thousands of highlights come pouring out. Beyond a shadow of a doubt Messi is my number one striker and player of all time.

So that’s it for my top 5 strikers in the world list! What do you think? Is Messi better than Ronaldo or have I totally missed the boat? Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to share and subscribe! (Major thanks to Fredrik @F_Edits again!)

Sometimes it is difficult to know who really is the best, especially with some of the media hype clouding some facts. Yet, when you see Messi play the game and see how he sees the field and deek an opponent, leaving their shorts on the field while he scores another goal, it is difficult to not vote for him as the best.
I think as an all around team player, Messi is better than Ronaldo. I think you got it right!
