Top 5 Attacking Midfielders in the World!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another installment of my personal Top 5 best players in a certain position! Today I will be breaking down the best attacking midfielders at this very moment. Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comment and feel to share this article with friends to see if they agree! Let’s dive right in!

#5- Paulo Dybala, Juventus

Cracking the list at number 5, is the multi-positional Argentinian. Dybala has played everywhere (Striker, Right Wing, Center Forward, Attacking Mid, and Center Mid!) for Juve since joining the side in 2015. At 25 years old, Dybala is the youngest player to make this list. Early in his career he was hailed as the next Messi but since then some of the hype as faded. Despite the “failure” to live up to Messi-like expectations, Dybala has been a great player for Juve. His ability to play different positions is huge as he can also play striker or out on the right. The best aspect of his game is his technical abilities, with exceptional passing and dribbling, Dybala can carve opponents to shreds.

#4- David Silva, Manchester City

Much like Fernandinho, Silva is another less talked about hero for Manchester City. Silva is the definition of consistency when it comes to attacking midfielders. The diminutive Spaniard is a wizard on the ball. His ability to split opposing defenses with sharp passes and quick touches helps push City up the field. He is one of the best attacking midfielders in the game, but he may not even be the best one on his team and at 33 years old, Silva may be entering the latter stages of his career but his ability is without question. He has made over 250 appearances for the Citizens and is absolutely deserving of a spot on this list.

#3- Christian Eriksen, Tottenham

A product of the Ajax wonder-kid academy, Eriksen makes my list at #3. The attacking midfielder is the pride and joy of his home country of Denmark and it’s easy to see why. He is one of the most vital members of a Tottenham side that is heavily reliant on his creativity. Eriksen is very tricky on the ball and is an incredible free kick taker as well. He is only 26 and is entering the time when most players will be at the prime of their careers. With a bright future and tremendous talent, it is clear why teams like Real Madrid are highly interested in him.

#2- Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund

It makes me very happy to put Marco Reus at the #2 slot on my list. The German has been ravaged by injuries throughout his career, robbing him of precious playing time. At 29 years old, Reus still has time to reach that potential people saw in him at a young age. I’d argue that this season he has reached that point. Reus is absolutely dominating as an attacking midfielder this season. His speed, shooting, and dribbling are all exceptional. Paired with stars like Jadon Sancho and Paco Alcacer, Reus has driven Dortmund to the top of the table and Champions League success this year.

#1- Kevin De Bruyne, Man. City

If you know me, there are no prizes for guessing my #1 attacking midfielder. I am a huge fan of KDB and his game. The Belgian is truly world class with his blend of shooting, dribbling, and passing. Unfortunately, injuries have been an issue the last few seasons for the Man City star. To make matters worse, De Bruyne was once a Chelsea player and was exiled under former management. As soon as he got a fair chance he absolutely dominated opposition in Germany before earning his move to Manchester City. Since then KDB has dominated England with his style of play dominating the Premier League. He is a match winner and a game changer for the Citizens and for those reasons, he is the best of the best when it comes to attacking midfielders.

So that’s my list! What do you think? Did I miss someone? Feel free to let me know in the comments and share this article! Have a great day and God bless! (Thank you to Fredrik @F_Edits on Twitter for his exceptional images!)
